Homosexuality, promiscuity, sexual deviancy, sexual assault, murder, theft, adultery, idolatry, power abuses, pride, rebelliousness, greed, covetness, naughtiness, arrogance, among other reasons are why Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

Some argue that the innocent were "sacrificed" in order to teach a lesson, but the Bible tells us otherwise. When Abraham learned of God's plan to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, he asked God if He will spare them if he can find fifty innocent, godly people.
God reassures Abraham that if he finds fifty righteous people, he will spare the city for their sake.
Abraham then asks about a lesser and lesser number until down to ten people as God answers,

"For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it" (Genesis 18:32).

Now to answer the question, are we living in a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah?

The answer is, "Yes".

Every one of the sins for which Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, are rampant in every corner of America and the world.

So why are we not being destroyed by the hand of God?

The reason is simple. The righteous in God are preventing our destruction, however, there will come a day that Satan will no longer be able to lead so many down the road of their own destruction and this earth will be destroyed. Of course, ALL of the righteous in God shall be saved through salvation.
